Memorial and Dedication Service The Berwind Volunteer Fire Department was established in 1986, a few years after a tragic fire that claimed the lives of two members of the Myers family of Berwind. Their son Jimmy and daughter Lisa Ann. The Myers family lived in the west section of New Town bottom, with their parents and other family members. The department was established in the hope that the residence of Berwind, and the surrounding area, would not experience another tragic fire without having the assistance of trained and qualified personnel.
